Product tour

Product tour

The tour is five screens showing how a partner reviews prepared work in Cast & Rule: the Desk, a cast workpaper, Ruling, the Ledger, and Rules. Step through at your own pace.

An accountant works on a laptop showing a softly blurred dashboard, a Cast & Rule desk card beside it.

The demo stops at Awaiting partner, where a named partner rules.

The Clerk prepares. A partner rules. Nothing goes to a client or HMRC without that ruling.

The Desk: the partner's morning

The Clerk cast seven items overnight from the practice's schedules. Six wait for a partner's ruling; one is queried back to the client. Deadlines for the next 30 days sit alongside, and the overnight strip is read straight from the Ledger.

On this screen

  1. Six items awaiting partner, sorted by deadline.
  2. One item queried: two invoices missing from the client.
  3. Deadlines for the next 30 days: accounts filing, corporation tax, MTD and VAT.

A cast workpaper

Each item opens as a workpaper the Clerk cast: here, Rowe Garden Design's MTD quarterly update. Totals are cast with a single rule, and the double rule stays dashed until a partner rules it off. The evidence sits beside the figures, down to the bank lines behind a flagged total.

On this screen

  1. Flagged lines carry a dot: checks for the partner, not decisions.
  2. Net profit shows a dashed rule: to be ruled, not ruled.
  3. The evidence behind cost of goods, line by line.

Ruling: the partner's review

The partner reviews the same draft, ticking each line against its evidence. Open notes need an answer: keep it, change it, or ask the client. The tour stops here, at Awaiting partner: sign-off, the double rule, is the partner's.

On this screen

  1. Ticks: 8 of 11 lines checked by the partner so far.
  2. Notes to resolve, each with its own actions.
  3. Rule off is the partner's step. Nothing in this tour is ruled.

The Ledger, in order

Every AI action and every human decision is posted to the Ledger in order. Each entry is locked to the one before it (it carries the previous entry's hash), so a later change to an entry already checked shows up. Filters narrow it by date, who acted, client, action, model and source.

On this screen

  1. The Clerk's cast of the Rowe update at 02:14, with the model and sources it used.
  2. The partner's own ticks sit in the same chain.
  3. Each entry carries a chained hash: tamper evidence, not tamper prevention.

Rules and the Strongroom

The partner sets the Rules: which models may run, what the Clerk may do by itself and what always waits for a ruling. Processing runs on the practice's own hardware, and the Strongroom keeps one encrypted compartment per client.

On this screen

  1. This practice keeps the optional cloud model off. It's off by default and never switches itself on.
  2. Emailing a client needs a partner's ruling.
  3. Xero, Microsoft 365 and Dext connect read-only.

Product film

One morning, from the Desk to the partner

Twenty-five seconds of the product tour: the queue the Clerk prepared overnight, one working paper, and the partner's review.

The partner reviews it line by line, with the evidence beside each figure, and it waits for their ruling.

Follow one working paper from preparation to partner review. Silent.

A silent screen recording of the product tour. It opens on the Desk, where seven items cast overnight are listed and six wait for a partner's ruling. It then opens Rowe Garden Design's quarterly update and points to cost of goods, a supporting receipt and the net profit to date of £23,543.52, which carries a dashed rule because it hasn't been ruled. Finally it opens the Ruling screen, points to an open note about possible private use, and ends as it waits for the partner.

Where this goes next

If you want to test one workflow at a practice like yours, read the pilot scope; if you want to start with policy, take the template.

Questions partners ask

Questions about the tour

Can I try signing something off?

No. Sign-off, the double rule, belongs to the named partner, so the Rule off button is marked Partner only and the tour stops at Awaiting partner. No record in the tour is shown as ruled.

What happens next if I'm interested?

Read the pilot scope. The pilot is one workflow, such as a review of a group of clients' MTD quarterly updates or a management pack, run for six weeks at one practice, supervised and measured before and after, with a written exit. Send an enquiry or email us today.
